Scott’s TD run helps NC State shake off blown lead, Vanderbilt loss by beating Appalachian State

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — N.C. State's Duke Scott scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 16-yard run to help the Wolfpack overcome a 21-point deficit and defeat Appalachian State 41-31 on Saturday night.

The Wolfpack, looking to bounce back from a shocking 21-point halftime lead loss to Vanderbilt, dominated the first half with four touchdowns on six drives, leading 28-7. However, Appalachian State mounted a rally with two touchdowns, tying the game at 31-all with 9:41 remaining.

Scott added a second touchdown on a physical run, forcing a fourth-down incompletion and adding a 35-yard field goal by Kanoah Vinesett to create a two-possession game. Despite a wide miss from James London with 45 seconds left, N.C. State's Malachi Singleton led the Mountaineers with 317 passing yards and two scores, including a touchdown run.
