'Ready to inflict greater damage on US': Iran's stern warning amid deadlock over peace plan

Iran has issued a warning of a potential renewed attack by the United States, stating that Tehran is ready to inflict greater damage on US forces. This comes amid high tensions between the two nations, even as Iran continues to pursue a diplomatic route to resolve the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia declared the country to be "ready to inflict greater damage" on its adversary.

Iranian army chief commander Amir Hatami warned that the conflict with the US had entered a critical stage and that Tehran remained prepared for further confrontation. Meanwhile, Iran awaits a formal US response to its seven-day proposal to reopen the strategic waterway and end the conflict. Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran had seen President Trump's initial reaction to the proposal but was still awaiting Washington's definitive position through mediators.

Araghchi reiterated Iran's conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which must be fulfilled before any move to open the waterway. Despite the tensions, Araghchi expressed Iran's support for a negotiated settlement, noting that all countries share this position. However, US President Donald Trump rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, stating that he would not accept the offer.
