Qatar Charity completes 58 relief, development projects in Cote d’Ivoire

Qatar Charity (QC) has successfully concluded 58 development and relief initiatives in Cote d’Ivoire over the first eight months of 2026, directly benefiting approximately 63,000 individuals. Supported by donors in Qatar, the projects encompassed a wide range of essential services and community empowerment efforts.

Key areas of focus included water and sanitation, healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and emergency relief. The projects aimed to enhance living conditions, broaden access to life-sustaining services, foster livelihoods, and aid communities impacted by disasters.

In the realm of water and sanitation, QC executed 16 projects, such as constructing 12 shallow wells and four deep artesian wells. This initiative directly provided over 27,500 people with access to clean and safe drinking water, contributing to public health improvements and environmental enhancements.

For healthcare, QC equipped health centers with necessary medical supplies and equipment. Additionally, the charity distributed manual and electric wheelchairs along with prescription glasses to individuals with disabilities, benefiting 4,019 people and improving healthcare access and inclusivity.

Educational and religious services were also addressed, with QC building 11 mosques and three Qur’an memorisation centres, directly impacting around 2,000 people. These facilities serve as venues for religious education, Qur’an learning, and community gatherings.

To support economic empowerment, the charity undertook two projects delivering water coolers, 19 projects supplying plumbing tools and equipment, and one project providing sewing machines. These initiatives benefited 151 individuals and families, facilitating the establishment or enhancement of income-generating activities.

QC’s branch in Cote d’Ivoire affirmed its commitment to continuing projects through the remainder of 2026. The focus moving forward will be on further expanding access to essential services, promoting sustainable development, and empowering vulnerable communities within the region.
