Proteas clinch ODI series against Australia

South African captain Temba Bavuma and David Miller led a brilliant batting performance, while the Proteas' spin bowlers delivered an equally impressive display in the Pink One Day International against Australia in Johannesburg on Sunday. The Proteas secured a 32-run victory, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. South Africa batted first and posted a strong 365 for the loss of nine wickets in their 50 overs. Australia, bowled out for 333, failed to challenge the Proteas' batting lineup.

Bavuma, who came in early due to Aiden Markram's dismissal, steadied the innings and played a crucial role in scoring 93 runs. Joined by David Miller, the two batsmen amassed 156 runs in just 20 overs. Bavuma's innings included 10 fours and two sixes, finishing with 103 runs off 116 balls. Miller continued to excel after Bavuma's departure, scoring a career-best 142 off 99 balls, featuring 12 fours and nine sixes. His performance marked his eighth Test century, with four of them against Australia.

The Australian openers, Mitch Marsh and Travis Head, gave South Africa a tough fight with a rapid 130-run stand in just 17 overs. However, their wickets fell as Markham and Bjoern Fortuin dismantled Australia's middle order. Despite a valiant effort from the tailenders, Australia could not build on their promising start and eventually succumbed to the Proteas' spin bowling tactics. The result leaves South Africa in a commanding position heading into the remaining matches of the series.
