Prioritise governance, workers’ welfare over political attacks, APC chieftain urges Wike

Yakubu Sani, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike to prioritize governance and the welfare of workers in Abuja over engaging in political attacks on his opponents. Sani, the founder of the Arewa Mandate Alliance, made these comments in a statement on Sunday.

He emphasized that Wike should focus on delivering the mandate given by President Bola Tinubu and enhancing the living conditions of FCT residents. The APC chieftain further urged Wike to expand his focus beyond infrastructure projects like roads and bridges to encompass the welfare of teachers, healthcare workers, and civil servants, as well as addressing issues such as inadequate water supply, indiscriminate parking, and refuse disposal in the capital.

Sani praised Governor Uzodimma of Imo State for his quiet approach to governance, emphasizing the importance of concentrating on delivering projects and organizing the President's support base without resorting to political abuse. He cautioned that Wike's confrontational rhetoric could distract from the infrastructure projects being undertaken under the Tinubu administration.

Sani advised Wike to let the completed projects speak for his performance instead of using commissioning ceremonies as platforms for political exchanges. He also encouraged Wike to broaden his approach to development by ensuring a regular water supply and working with taxi operators to improve traffic order and discipline across Abuja.

Sani emphasized that while Wike is building infrastructure, he should also address the welfare of essential service providers, as the quality of life for residents is a priority.
