Negri crisis meeting ends after three hours, Zahid to issue statement

Negri crisis negotiations concluded after roughly three hours, with no resolution announced. All 25 assemblymen departed from Umno headquarters in Menara Dato' Onn discreetly. Nevertheless, several ministers present confirmed that Zahid Hamidi would release an official statement soon, while the timing remained unspecified. Notable attendees comprised Negri Sembilan's Menteri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lasim, Pertang assemblyman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, who serves as the state's Umno liaison committee chairman, and three of the sacked state executive council members: Sikamat assemblyman Datuk Razali Abu Samah, Chembong assemblyman Datuk Zaifulbahri Idris, and Linggi assemblyman Datuk Mohd Faizal Ramli.

Zahid Hamidi had earlier clarified that the meeting's objective was to coordinate efforts towards resolving the impasse without meddling in the state administration. He also delegated the responsibility of settling the crisis to Ismail Lasim, instructing him to consult the state's royal and traditional institutions. The crisis escalated following the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Muhriz Munawir, rescinding the appointments of 10 state executive councillors on September 20 for allegedly violating their oath of allegiance.

This action followed the councillors' issuance of a statement supporting a proclamation aimed at removing Tuanku Muhriz. Ismail Lasim rejected the dismissals, asserting that they could not be carried out without the Menteri Besar's approval. However, Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar contended that the revocations were valid under the state Constitution.
