In Poland, there is growing concern over the potential expansion of Russia's war against Ukraine. German Ambassador Miguel Berger stated that it is unclear what might occur in the fall. Polish society is focused on preparing for a potential crisis situation. The Polish army offers crisis training, known as "In Readiness," which is popular due to the high demand.

Recently, Russian drones attacked near the Polish-Ukrainian border crossing Dorohusk-Jahodyn and a passenger train from Kyiv to Warsaw. Poland's Navy recently rescued a Russian drone from the Baltic Sea, and a Russian Mi-8 helicopter briefly entered NATO airspace over the country. German Ambassador Miguel Berger expressed concern about possible covert drone attacks and rocket strikes against Poland.

A recent analysis by Denmark's military and foreign intelligence service suggests a growing risk of limited Russian military attacks on NATO countries bordering Russia. The scenario could involve a targeted Russian missile attack on infrastructure supporting Ukraine, with Moscow potentially blaming Ukraine for the attack. A false flag operation using Ukrainian drones to disguise Russian actions is also a possibility.

Even a limited deployment of Russian soldiers on NATO territory is considered a potential scenario. However, experts believe that Russia would first need to build up regular forces at the border before launching such an attack, primarily to test NATO cohesion or physically obstruct humanitarian aid deliveries. NATO remains on high alert, monitoring the increasing number and severity of hybrid attacks, which include sabotage, cyberattacks, and disinformation campaigns.

Since last year, over 200 hybrid attacks have been recorded, excluding routine cyberattacks. NATO is concerned that Russia may overstep in a hybrid operation, causing many casualties and triggering an escalation. Polish Defense Minister Boris Pistorius emphasized the need to strengthen Germany's defense capabilities, citing recent incidents such as a bomb-laden drone over Lithuania, intercepted by NATO jets, and an attempted attack on Leipzig Airport at the beginning of August. In a crisis situation, Pistorius advised looking westward.
