MPSC Aspirants To Hold 'Satyagraha' At SM Joshi Bridge On October 2; Pune Police Grant Permission

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants have secured approval for a Satyagraha at the SM Joshi Bridge, located near Pune Patrakar Bhavan, on October 2. Pune Police granted the permit, subject to a set of conditions covering traffic management, public order, and participant conduct. NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, who has been backing the students’ protest, stated that permission was granted after talks with the police and mounting student pressure.

The police letter, issued to student representative Pramod Dattatray Patil, confirms the 10 am start time for the estimated 2,000 participants at the SM Joshi Bridge. The students had first requested permission to hold the Satyagraha at three sites, but permission was ultimately granted for the SM Joshi Bridge location. The police have outlined 22 conditions for the protest, including limits on inflammatory language, adherence to police instructions, and compliance with noise regulations.

Organizers must ensure the protest does not disrupt public traffic or pedestrian movement, and emergency vehicles receive priority. Loudspeakers and amplification equipment require prior permission, and organizers are accountable for traffic management and women participant safety. The police cautioned that permission could be revoked if the event threatens public peace or law and order.

MPSC aspirants continue to protest over examination-related concerns and the commission's administration, with Pawar urging the government to engage with students and resolve their demands through dialogue during the intervening days.
