Motorway Police Launches Action Against High-Beam Lights

The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) Central Region has initiated a focused awareness campaign targeting the misuse of high-beam lights, according to spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad. Drivers are being educated on the dangers of high beams and the correct usage of vehicle lighting in various zones such as MC-I, Central and MC-II Zones, along with M-2, Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, M-2 South, M-3, M-4 and M-5.

The initiative extends to National Highway routes in Pattoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan. The spokesperson highlighted that the glare from high-beam lights can momentarily impair the vision of drivers ahead, making it challenging to perceive the road, turns or unexpected obstacles in time, which could result in grave accidents.

"Even a brief period of unnecessary glare can negatively impact a driver's reaction time and pose a significant safety threat," emphasized Ahmad. The NHMP has advised motorists to deactivate high beams when meeting oncoming traffic and to utilize appropriate lighting to guarantee safe travel. In addition to the awareness drive, legal action will be taken against violators.

The NHMP Central Region has called on drivers to exercise caution and responsibility while driving at night, keeping in mind the safety of fellow road users.
