Mojtaba Khamenei was injured prior to Iran war, pulled from hospital rubble, Iranian official says

Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, sustained injuries before the onset of the Iran war, as reported by Ayatollah Mohsen Heidari Alekasir in an interview with Al Araby news outlet. Heidari did not specify the extent of Khamenei's condition, but he confirmed that the supreme leader was injured prior to the war. Heidari also dismissed allegations that Iran's previous supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, had backed Mojtaba Khamenei as his successor, stating that the younger Khamenei's appointment had no relation to his father's position.

During Ali Khamenei's rule, Mojtaba Khamenei did not hold any specific official political role, Heidari added. He referred to Mojtaba Khamenei as a "shadow man," an advisor who was occasionally consulted when his father was too busy to attend to matters himself. Heidari explained that Khamenei's infrequent public appearances and meetings with Iran's Assembly of Experts were due to the risks both he and the assembly members faced.

He suggested that it was in the best interest of all parties not to conduct large meetings while private discussions could take place safely.
