Leaders across political divide mourn Martha Karua’s father

Leaders from both Kenya’s government and opposition have expressed their condolences to Martha Karua and her family following the passing of her father, Mwalimu Jackson Karua. Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi led the tributes, describing the loss of a parent as a "deeply painful experience" and extending his heartfelt condolences to Karua and her family.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga recalled the influence her father had on her life, noting that Karua had often spoken of him as a role model instilling values of honesty, respect and hard work. Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi addressed Karua as "Mum" in his message of condolence, praising her father's legacy and praying for her strength, peace and comfort during the difficult time.

Kirinyaga politician and gubernatorial hopeful Wangui Ngirici also sent her condolences, wishing Karua and her family strength, comfort and peace. Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah similarly expressed his heartfelt sympathies, praying that Karua and her family would find solace in the memories of their father. The leaders' messages of condolence came as Karua and her family began mourning the loss of their patriarch, highlighting Mwalimu Jackson Karua's role in shaping his daughter's values and character.
