Karen Nyamu: Why I prefer Sakaja for Nairobi governor over Babu Owino

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has shared her preference for Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja over Embakasi East MP Babu Owino in the 2027 gubernatorial election. Nyamu expressed greater confidence in Sakaja over Owino, stating that she feels more assured about Sakaja's abilities. She noted that Owino remains overly enthusiastic about his political ambitions, and urged him to become more composed as he transitions from Parliament to City Hall.

Nyamu contrasted Owino's profile with Sakaja's, pointing out that Sakaja is less visible in the media as he operates behind the scenes. Meanwhile, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino remains determined to become Nairobi's governor after the 2027 General Election. He argues that his experience as an MP, ranking him among the best performers in his constituency, gives him the credentials to lead Nairobi.

Owino has expressed confidence in his ability to correct the mistakes of the current governor, Johnson Sakaja. On the other hand, Sakaja has also shown confidence in his bid for re-election, citing his record as evidence of his capability. The race for the city's top position is now heating up, with several other candidates, including businessman Tony Gachoka and former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, entering the fray.
