Jakim tegur, beri panduan kepada Marhamah selepas teliti isu ‘New Age’

The Muslim Affairs Committee (Jakim) has responded to allegations that linked Marhamah Rosli to the New Age Movement (NAM) by condemning and providing guidance to the Deputy Prime Minister (Hal Ehwal Agama) ministry, Marhamah Rosli. Sirajuddin Suhaimee, the director-general of Jakim, disclosed that this was done following an extensive investigation, including meetings and discussions with Marhamah Rosli to obtain his direct clarification.

The inquiry involved the Federal Wilayah Mufti, Jakim expert panel, and relevant parties to thoroughly examine the issue from an academic, religious authority, and NAM ideology perspectives.

According to a statement, the meeting resulted in several warnings, advisories, and guidance being given, particularly concerning the content and dissemination of programs that have been conducted, as well as the approach employed and its implications for religion and belief. On September 18, Marhamah Rosli denied allegations that linked him to the dissemination of underground practices, sorcery, azimat, and New Age teachings, giving a 24-hour window for the publishing party to retract the claim and apologize.

The agency stated that a video clip of Marhamah Rosli dated September 20, 2019, which became a point of contention, was made in the context of personal development and not as support or endorsement of the individual's views, beliefs, or practices being referred to. Marhamah Rosli's office also emphasized that Marhamah Rosli had never been a teacher, attended classes, met or interacted directly with individuals involved, aside from denying he had ever taught, promoted, or spread the alleged practice.
