Insta360 Reportedly Working On AI-Powered Smart Glasses

Insta360, a tech company known for its mirrorless cameras, may be developing AI-powered smart glasses, according to recent reports. What sets its design apart from other devices is the absence of an internal battery, instead opting for a cable connection to an external power pack. This design choice could result in a lighter frame and less strain on the wearer's face, potentially making the glasses resemble conventional eyewear.

However, the inclusion of a wire might add to the device's overall bulk, which could prove to be a drawback given the current trend of wireless smart glasses. Despite this, Insta360 appears to have a different approach in mind for the product. While competitors like Samsung and Meta are primarily targeting smart glasses as platforms for AI assistants, Insta360 may prioritize the device as a content creation tool.

Insta360 co-founder Max Richter stated that if the company does launch smart glasses, its main goal will be to provide content creators with a convenient means of capturing high-quality images. The Verge reports that the glasses could serve as a less competitive alternative to other smart glasses, focusing more on practicality rather than advanced features.

As of now, it remains uncertain if Insta360's smart glasses will ever reach consumers, but the company continues to develop two mirrorless cameras in the meantime.
