Homeowner beats Bangkok floods with DIY barrier

However, a single household managed to keep the water out completely, thanks to a clever DIY barrier system.

The homeowner installed a tall removable flood barrier across the front entrance of their property, securing it with sandbags on top. The project began on September 26, the moment water levels began to rise in the surrounding area. Initially, a contractor built the barrier to order after sandbags alone were found insufficient during a previous flood.

As soon as the water crept higher, the homeowner activated a pump to remove any water that seeped through. Consequently, the home remained dry within, surrounded by floodwaters on all sides.

Despite this year's floods not yet reaching the severity of the 2011 floods, the homeowner had already made preparations.
