Gangguan sistem semboyan punca KTM Komuter, ETS lewat 5 jam

Kuala Lumpur: A malfunction in the signaling system between Kalumpang and Kuala Kubu Bharu yesterday caused delays to KTM Komuter and ETS services lasting up to five hours, according to Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB). The statement released today revealed the longest delay for KTM Komuter was 230 minutes for train number 2389, while ETS service EP9138 (KL Sentral-Butterworth) experienced 305 minutes of delay.

Initial investigations found the issue stemmed from damage to one of the system components causing short circuits and subsequently affecting the signaling system. However, the cause of the component damage is still under further investigation. The malfunction had a cascading effect on the movement and schedule of other trains passing through the sector, particularly northern services, the statement added.

Meanwhile, KTMB also informed that the ongoing dual track Rawang-Ipoh works which were scheduled earlier were being carried out in stages, including on the Kalumpang route yesterday and today, with adjustments to the service schedule on the respective route. The cascading effect of the signaling system malfunction during the work, resulted in restricted movement of trains and subsequent double delays to several KTM Komuter and ETS services, the statement explained.

However, KTMB reported the completion of the repair work at 5.15 am yesterday and the first KTM Komuter train from Tanjung Malim departed at 5.45 am yesterday. The National Rail Services manager said operations of KTM Komuter and ETS are now back to normal, but there is a 30-minute delay from the original schedule due to the signaling component issue on the Batang Kali route.

KTMB apologized to the aggrieved passengers and offered full refund to those who chose not to continue their journey following the disruption, subject to the applicable procedure.
