From 28 to 109 beds: Mawar Medical's RM10.6mil healthcare push

Mawar Medical Centre, the healthcare arm of Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd, recently announced a significant investment of RM10.6 million to expand its specialist healthcare capacity and introduce more advanced medical services in Negri Sembilan. This expansion increased the hospital's licensed bed capacity from 97 to 109 and average operational beds from 84 to 97.

As a result, revenue rose by 10.47 percent to RM89.1 million from RM80.7 million, though gross profit remained relatively stable at RM35.1 million. The founder and group executive deputy chairman, Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock, explained that the expansion aimed to strengthen the clinical capabilities of Mawar Medical Centre and provide patients with access to more advanced treatments closer to home.

The hospital now boasts three general operating theatres and one hybrid operating theatre. Major investments included the opening of Operation Theatre 3 and new electroencephalography (EEG) and nerve conduction study (NCS) facilities. Additional expenditures totaled RM690,000 for Pico Laser and carbon dioxide laser facilities, focusing on dermatology and plastic and reconstructive surgery services.

Mawar also introduced a dedicated Health Screening Centre, where screening reports can be completed in approximately 90 minutes, and added 13 consultation rooms, bringing the total to 31. The hospital received a 30-year land lease renewal offer and plans to continue strengthening clinical capabilities, investing in advanced technology, improving efficiency, and enhancing patient experiences.
