Demonic Eyes, Pouty Lips & Hot Pink! Gucci Just Revived Messy, Wild Makeup Trend At Milan Fashion Week

Gucci's Spring 2027 Milan Fashion Week presentation brought a daring new look to the world of beauty. The makeup artists traded the subdued aesthetics of recent times for bold, maximalist looks that paid homage to the glamour of 1980s beauty. Creative director Demna Gvasalia led the charge in this shift, collaborating with makeup artist Sam Visser to create makeup that made a statement.

On the eye department, dramatic was the name of the game. Models showcased intense black eye makeup, with some opting for dense black pigment covering both upper and lower lash lines, creating a shadowy frame. Others embraced vivid hues, such as a hot pink explosion at the outer corners, while yellow and electric blue sweeps added to the vivid palette. The colors were intentionally graphic and visible, as if directly applied by hand.

The makeup artists also played with asymmetry, with some models featuring smudged shadows that pulled away from the inner corners, while others showcased clean, defined winged eyeliner. The overall effect was a departure from the perfectly blended, Instagram-ready smoky eyes that have dominated recent looks. Instead, the focus was on bold, intentionally visible pigment.

The skin looked surprisingly restrained in contrast to the wild makeup. Models appeared with smooth, luminous complexions, with subtle cheekbone definition rather than heavy sculpting. The complexion provided a fresh, subtle glow that kept the focus on the eyes, but not so much that it detracted from the stronger, more dramatic looks.

The lips rounded out the look, offering another dose of classic glamour. A range of shades was presented, from glossy nude and beige to richer reds and deeper burgundies. Some models opted for a strong red pout, while others balanced the boldness with matte lipstick layered for subtle dimension, creating a moodier, tougher finish.
