Corey Heim jumped by crew members and punched in Martinsville altercation

After the final race of Saturday night at Martinsville Speedway, the atmosphere was chaotic, with Caden Kvapil claiming victory in the prestigious ValleyStar Credit Union 300. Kvapil led the field, with Corey Heim in the inside position and Treyten Lapcevich in the middle. As they approached Turn 1, Heim made contact with Lapcevich, causing him to lose control and allowing Kvapil to win the race.

The altercation between Heim and Lapcevich continued for the rest of the lap, with Heim taking second place and Lapcevich in third. Shortly after, another confrontation erupted near the infamous hot dog shack in the infield, involving Heim and members of Lapcevich’s Chad Bryant Racing team. Team owner Chad Bryant joined the fray and began swinging at Heim as he attempted to de-escalate the situation.

One individual grabbed Heim from behind, against the hot dog stand, as he covered his head. A police officer quickly intervened, escorting Heim away from the scene. Heim, wearing his 23XI Racing firesuit, is set to drive for the team co-owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin in the 2027 NASCAR Cup season. He has previously won the Brickyard 400 and the inaugural San Diego Street Course, and is the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion.

Earlier in the day, there was another brawl involving Brad Housewright and Chase Burrow. Just one week prior, Carson Hocevar punched Ryan Blaney in a major fight at Bristol.
