BJP leader shot dead in Bengal's Bolpur

A BJP leader named Chandan Bhalla (47) was fatally shot in Bolpur, Birbhum district of West Bengal on Sunday night by two bikers who escaped. Chandan was the mandal president of the BJP in that area. His elder brother suspects that some BJP workers from Nanoor may be responsible. Chandan's wife revealed that he was on his way to sell land when he was killed.

Police are investigating the incident and trying to identify the perpetrators through CCTV footage, but no police official has commented on the case yet. Chandan's brother stated that two individuals on a bike shot him and fled, adding that the bullet pierced Chandan's head directly. Bolpur BJP leader Sumit Mandal expressed his sorrow, noting that Chandan had been a worker for the party for a long time and they had participated in numerous political events together.

However, no conclusions can be drawn until the investigation concludes. The BJP currently holds power in the state, prompting the need for a thorough inquiry. The BJP leader's involvement in the incident has raised questions, with Sumit Mandal calling for a proper police investigation.
