Bhiwandi Civic Politics Heats Up As Parties Race To Finalise Nine Nominated Corporator Posts Amid Lobbying

Bhiwandi: As the deadline for nominated corporator post nominations looms on Monday September 28, political fervor has escalated in Bhiwandi-Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC). Nine seats have sparked heated lobbying among and between political parties. Though claims of political bargaining and alleged "horse-trading" have emerged, they remain unverified.

The Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) are locked in intense internal competition, while the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) and Shiv Sena (Shinde) face rival claims for their respective nominated seats. Political sources suggest supporters of aspirants are lobbying senior leaders, with some names being discussed despite lacking traditional party affiliations.

The Samajwadi Party nominated Sarfaraz Shaikh, a decision that has faced local resistance from the party's group leader and a claim of BJP corporator Bharat Jaglani being sought under the SP quota. The Congress faces a dilemma over three seats, with some leaders advocating for active party workers and others proposing candidates from outside the traditional Congress cadre.
