At least seven killed in airstrike on market in Yemen, say Houthis

At least seven individuals lost their lives and 40 others sustained injuries in an airstrike on the Yemeni province of Taiz, according to Houthi rebels on Sunday. The Saudi Air Force is alleged to have targeted a shopping area near the central market of Taiz. Houthi television channel Al-Masirah reported the incident, presenting footage of substantial smoke plumes and a warehouse filled with food items packed in cardboard boxes. However, these claims have not been independently confirmed.

The Houthi health ministry denounced the Saudi Air Force's actions, labeling them as an "abominable crime." They stated that the attack targeted civilian sites in Taiz directly and deliberately. On the other hand, troops loyal to the internationally recognized government in Yemen reported that their air force had struck a Houthi depot and vehicles in the same area. These government forces receive backing from Saudi Arabia.

Earlier on Saturday, the government forces had announced strikes on Houthi fighters and weapons depots in the eastern and southern regions of the strategically significant province of Taiz. The ongoing conflict is taking place across multiple locations within the country.
