Asian Games: Qatar's Younousse and Tijan qualify for round of 16 of Beach Volleyball

Qatar's Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan have advanced to the Round of 16 in the men's beach volleyball competition at the 20th Asian Games in Japan. The duo, who won the gold medal in the previous two editions, topped Group A by defeating Oman's Hood Al Jalboubi and Mazen Al Hashmi twice with scores of 21-19 and 21-19. Qatar is currently the top contender for the gold medal, having previously won the title at the 2018 Palembang and 2022 Hangzhou editions.

Meanwhile, Qatar's Team B, comprising Mousa Al Khair and Mohamed Ihab, also secured a spot in the Round of 16 after finishing second in Group D, behind Thailand A. Other teams that qualified for the round of 16 include: China A and Vietnam from Group B; Indonesia A and Vietnam B from Group C; Kazakhstan and Indonesia B from Group E; Iran and Thailand B from Group F; China B and Japan B from Group G; and Japan A and Iran B from Group H.
