Abhay Singh becomes 2nd Indian squash player to win Asian Games silver

India's squash player Abhay Singh secured a silver medal in the Asian Games men's singles competition on Sunday, falling to Malaysia's Eain Yow NG in the final. Yow, a defending champion and top seed, dominated the match with a 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 scoreline. Abhay, only the second Indian to win a singles medal after Saurav Ghosal in 2018, had the opportunity to represent India at the Los Angeles Olympics had he won the final.

Yow's long, attritional style proved too much for the Indian throughout the three games. In the first game, Yow bounced back from a 2-3 deficit to lead 5-3. He maintained this lead for the rest of the match. Abhay managed to save one game point at 8-10, but fell behind in the second and third games. After trailing 8-3 in the second game and 5-11 in the third, Abhay started to gain ground in the third, building a 4-2 lead.

However, his errors allowed Yow to regain control. He extended his lead to 6-5 and ultimately secured the victory.
