Ashok Singhal: A life devoted to the service of Bharat

Ashok Singhal, a devoted servant of Bharat, was born on this day marking his birth centenary year. Growing up in Prayagraj, he nurtured an understanding of India's cultural ethos and felt drawn to bring glory to his country. An illustrious and prosperous family raised him, with his father Mahavir Singhal being a distinguished administrator. It was his attraction to the river Sangam and its inhabitants that molded him into a dedicated individual.

From a young age, Ashok was attracted to RSS and embraced various responsibilities with enthusiasm and discipline. He was blessed with a powerful voice and was a gifted orator, reflecting the spirit of bringing benefit to others, as taught by saints and seers. His organisational genius was evident in his vision to host Swami Vivekananda's Chicago address overseas in 1993 and his planning for the World Hindu Conference in Port of Spain in 2000.

His address at the VHP Boat Club rally in New Delhi in 1991 and his injury during a police lathi blow in 1990 at Ayodhya remain unforgettable.

Ashok believed in a harmonious society where brotherhood was reaffirmed and worked towards social unity and equality. He laid the first brick of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya for Kameshwar Choupal, a grassroots VHP karyakarta from Bihar. A strong believer in the message of brotherhood, he worked across various community efforts. His love for education, especially Vedic education, and music, further showcased his multifaceted personality.

As an MP from Varanasi, he was proud that Kashi played a significant role in Ashok's life. As we celebrate his birth centenary, it is crucial to spread knowledge about his greatness to inspire future generations.
