As heat grows on Bihar government over law and order, some pushback from within BJP

Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary government is facing criticism from within its own ranks over the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state. BJP Rajya Sabha MP Shambhu Sharan Patel accused the government of failing to maintain control over law and order, demanding a new chief secretary and director general of police (DGP).

Patel recounted a recent incident where he called the Patna administration for help, but his call was not picked up, and no FIR has been registered in the case. He emphasized that criminals no longer fear the law, citing the collapse of policing in Bihar. The Opposition, spearheaded by the Rashtriya Janata Dal, is pressing for accountability, particularly in light of a series of sexual harassment cases that have surfaced across Bihar in recent days.
