APC wins all 17 chairmanship seats in Yobe LG elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in every one of the 17 local government chairmanship positions during the recent elections in Yobe State. This was reported at the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC) headquarters in Damaturu on Sunday, following the polls held on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Dr Ibrahim Mohammad Yabani, the chairman of YOSIEC, confirmed that the elections were conducted smoothly across all 178 electoral wards and the 17 local government areas. He highlighted that 10 political parties participated, vying for both chairmanship and councillor positions.

The results were tabulated after the voting concluded, with councillorship outcomes announced at the ward level and chairmanship results at the local government collation centers. Yabani announced that the APC emerged triumphant in every single chairmanship election.

Specifically, the APC won the chairmanship seat in Bade LG with 54,312 votes, followed by Musa Kalan Dagona with 24,331 votes, Damaturu LG with 18,465 votes, and several other local governments. The Commission also noted an unusual occurrence where two councillorship seats were won by the opposition parties, Action Peoples Party (APP) in Fune LG and Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Karasuwa LG.
