Nagoya, Sep 27: India’s Ancy Sojan claimed the women’s long jump silver medal at the Asian Games 2026 in a thrilling final at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium. China’s Huang Yingying narrowly edged the Indian by two centimeters with a final jump of 6.55 meters, edging out Ancy’s 6.49m. Meanwhile, Shaili Singh, who had been in medal contention throughout the competition, finished fourth.

Ancy had been leading the field after her opening attempt of 6.49m, but her second jump was deemed a foul, maintaining her top position through the subsequent rounds. Shaili’s round began with 6.25m, which she increased to 6.34m and then repeated with her third attempt. The intense competition reached its peak in the fourth round, where Shaili registered 6.41m after requesting a jump check, moving to third place.
