All Malaysian Indian Progressive Front seeks BN membership — and a shot at contesting Penang seats

BANGOR, September 27 - The All Malaysian Indian Progressive Front (IPF) has submitted an application to join Barisan Nasional (BN), with Penang as their initial target before expanding their campaign nationwide. Their president, Datuk T. Loganathan, explained that their move was motivated by their enduring support for BN, even though they had never been allocated any positions within the coalition.

Loganathan emphasized that IPF has remained committed to BN, despite the party's loss in the 14th general election (GE14) in 2018, when several other component parties opted to depart. Speaking at the Penang IPF assembly, he expressed the hope that BN would consider granting IPF the opportunity to contest suitable state seats where the party has a higher chance of winning.

Meanwhile, Penang BN chairman, Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir, disclosed that he would forward the IPF's application to the Umno supreme council meeting before it is submitted to the Umno president, who also serves as the BN chairman. Musa highlighted that Penang IPF has been a staunch supporter of BN, particularly during by-elections and state elections.
