All Malaysian Indian Progressive Front seeks BN membership — and a shot at contesting Penang seats

BUTTERWORTH, Sept 27 — The All Malaysian Indian Progressive Front (IPF) has submitted an application to join Barisan Nasional (BN) as a component party, initiating the process in Penang before potentially expanding the move nationwide. President Datuk T. Loganathan revealed the move stems from IPF's loyalty to BN despite never being provided any positions.

Despite BN losing the 14th general election in 2018, leading to several component parties departing, IPF has remained supportive. In his speech at the Penang IPF assembly, Loganathan expressed hope that BN leadership would consider granting IPF the chance to contest state seats where the party has a potential of winning. Meanwhile, Penang BN chairman Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir stated he would present the application to the Umno supreme council meeting before submitting it to the Umno president, who serves as the BN chairman.

Musa highlighted Penang IPF's active support for BN, including during by-elections and state elections.
