27 dead in two shootings in S Africa

In South Africa, 27 individuals lost their lives in two separate shootings that occurred within a short time frame. The first incident took place on Saturday evening at a pub in Gauteng province, where 17 people were killed. The attackers, eight armed men, stormed the pub, shooting at customers both outside and inside the venue.

They were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols, and took mobile phones from some guests before fleeing in two vehicles. Fifteen others sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the hospital.

Later that same day, a second attack occurred near Cape Town. Ten people were killed, and 11 more were injured in a shooting at a barbecue restaurant in the Lwandle township. The motive for this attack remains unknown, and police are currently searching for multiple suspects. No arrests have been made in either incident. South Africa is known for its high levels of violent crime, and the government has been under pressure to address public safety concerns, especially in major urban areas where police have been intensifying efforts against gun-related crimes.
