2 dead, 14 missing in Nepal avalanche

An avalanche at the base camp of a popular peak in the Himalayas has resulted in at least two deaths and 14 people reported missing, according to the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA). The incident occurred near the border with Tibet, where a 7,126-metre peak named Himlung Himal was situated. The NMMGA, the sole agency active in the region, confirmed that 24 individuals were present at the time of the disaster.

Police and expedition organizers initially reported two bodies recovered from the area, with the remaining 14 individuals listed as missing. Among the missing were two climbing guides, who were later found deceased. Police officer Binod Bohara of the affected Manang district stated that additional search and rescue teams have been dispatched to the site for the ongoing mission.
