Yuna Nishimura with a 63 leads low scoring at LPGA in Arkansas

ROGERS, Ark. (AP) — Yuna Nishimura posted an 8-under 63 in the final round of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, giving her a one-shot lead over Yu Liu. The 63 was the lowest score of the day, as the LPGA Tour resumed its regular schedule after the Solheim Cup. Nishimura, a six-time winner on the Japan LPGA and in her fourth year on the LPGA Tour, closed the front nine with three birdies and finished with a birdie-eagle.

She expressed her satisfaction with her final putt, stating she wanted to make it and went for it aggressively. Yu Liu closed at 66, leaving Nishimura with a one-shot advantage. Lottie Wood had a 66, while Celine Boutier and Charley Hull tied for second at 65. The top scores from the U.S. team, Auston Kim and Andrea Lee, were both 67.

The Solheim Cup-winning European team players all broke par. Auston Kim and Andrea Lee led the U.S. team. Hull, who changed from blonde to brunette after the Solheim Cup, shared her feelings on the course being less nerve-wracking compared to the competition during the Solheim Cup. She also revealed her plans to go back to a blonde color after Christmas.

With 25 players at 66 or below and 99 players in the 144-player field breaking par, there is still room for Nishimura or anyone else to gain more separation.
