Winnipeg Blue Bombers start strong, finish flat in 30-28 loss to Argonauts

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers started their game strongly, leading 21-7 in the second quarter. However, they faltered in the final 30 minutes, ultimately losing 30-28 to the Toronto Argonauts. The Argos took an early lead after Sergio Castillo's missed field goal, with Janarion Grant returning the missed kick 128 yards for a touchdown.

Winnipeg's offence dominated early, scoring two touchdowns via 22-yard and six-yard passes from Dru Brown. The Argonauts' high-octane offence struggled initially, but Chad Kelly's 290 passing yards, including 24 on the season, and touchdowns to Tyler Kahmann (56 yards) and Damonte Coxie (84 yards) helped them tie the game in the third quarter.

The Bombers failed to score in the third quarter, allowing the Argonauts to take the lead with a 19-yard field goal. In the fourth quarter, Winnipeg's Bryce Perkins scored a 76-yard touchdown, but Toronto countered with another field goal and kicker Liam Hajrullahu's 36-yard kick with 29 seconds remaining, sealing the victory. Despite leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns, Toronto's offense suffered two interceptions, while Winnipeg's offensive line struggled to protect passer Dru Brown, who was sacked four times. The Bombers will travel to face the Montreal Alouettes on October 3.
