Will Warren strikes out seven, Yankees' bullpen holds on to take Game 2 of doubleheader over Orioles

The Yankees (93-68) secured a 6-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles (79-82) in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader. Ryan Yarbrough, who served as the opener for the Yankees, struck out five Orioles over 2.1 scoreless innings. Will Warren took over in the third inning and, despite allowing a double, struck out two batters, keeping the game scoreless.

Warren continued his strong performance, allowing only three hits (no walks) over 3.2 scoreless innings, with seven strikeouts. The Yankees' bats showed little production against Brandon Young until the fifth inning, when Austin Wells walked a two-out batter and Ryan McMahon followed with an RBI double, putting the Yankees up 1-0.

Spencer Jones extended the lead to 2-0 with an RBI single after Ramos and Luis García Jr. combined for walks in the sixth inning. Anthony Volpe added to the offense with a two-out ground-rule double, making it a 4-0 lead. McMahon and Ben Rice continued the Yankees' rally in the seventh inning, driving in both runners on second and third base with no outs.

Brent Headrick ran into trouble in the top of the seventh inning, loading the bases with one out, but only allowed a sacrifice fly, cutting the lead to 4-1. Alexander Cornielle made his MLB debut in the ninth inning, but allowed a home run and multiple base hits, ultimately striking out two Orioles to preserve the victory. The Yankees' bullpen, led by Yarbrough, Warren, Headrick, and John Schreiber, struck out 15 Orioles, allowing only one run on eight hits and three walks.
