Why Bombay High Court judges will visit 2016 Kopardi rape-murder crime scene

The Delhi High Court has ruled that medical boards cannot reduce the disability percentage of NEET-UG 2026 candidates with benchmark disabilities, rejecting an assessment that lowered two candidates' disabilities below the 40 per cent threshold required for reservation. Justice Jasmeet Singh stated that the medical assessment board's role is to evaluate a candidate's functional competency and cannot interfere with the disability recorded in the Unique Disability ID (UDID) card.

The UDID card is considered the primary document, and any reduction in the disability percentage should be appealed against the decision of the certifying authority. The court noted that the medical assessment board certified the candidates as eligible to pursue the MBBS course and found them capable of undertaking it without posing a threat to patients.
