Watch: Indian diplomat’s reaction to Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif’s UN speech goes viral

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif once again addressed the issue of Kashmir during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Friday. He emphasized the need for a "just and fair solution" to the matter, stating that the Kashmiri people have been yearning for the United Nations to meet its commitment to a "free and impartial plebiscite" under its auspices.

Sharif highlighted the suffering endured by generations of Kashmiris, including illegal occupation, arbitrary detention, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, sexual violence, and collective punishment. However, he stressed that addressing this issue requires a fair resolution to the Kashmir dispute. Currently, there has been no immediate reaction from India following Sharif's remarks.

India has consistently rejected Pakistan's claims about Kashmir made at the UNGA and other UN platforms in the past, asserting that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is, has always been, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India. During his UNGA address, Shehbaz Sharif threatened that any attempt to obstruct, impede, or divert Pakistan's share of the Indus River waters would be considered an "act of war."

This statement came in response to India's decision to place the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 on hold, as part of a series of punitive diplomatic and economic measures introduced in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack last year.
