Virat Kohli says 2027 World Cup will be his last

Virat Kohli announced that the 2027 World Cup will be his final match for India, expressing his readiness to give his all in pursuit of victory. The 37-year-old, who has scored 14,941 runs in ODIs, has previously retired from T20 internationals and Test cricket. His last ODI World Cup was in 2011, and he aims to win another one at home this time.

Kohli considers the 2027 tournament, jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, as his fifth ODI World Cup. He emphasized the intensity of the 50-over format, comparing it to 10 games at the intensity of a Twenty20 match played in foreign conditions. Former captain Rohit Sharma expressed his motivation for another World Cup campaign, stating that the thought of retirement never crosses his mind as long as he continues playing. Both players were included in India's squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.
