UAE mission warns citizens in Thailand as floods hit Bangkok

The UAE mission in Bangkok has issued a warning to its citizens in Thailand about the heavy rainfall and flooding currently affecting Bangkok. In a post shared on X, the mission advised Emirati nationals to be cautious and follow safety instructions provided by local authorities. They were also encouraged to contact the UAE's emergency lines at 0097180024 or 0097180044444 if they require assistance.

The mission suggested that travelers register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Twajudi service, which facilitates communication between UAE citizens and the authorities during emergencies. This warning came after Thai authorities declared all 50 districts of Bangkok as disaster zones due to nearly 48 hours of heavy rain that led to widespread flooding.

The Bangkok Governor, Chadchart Sittipunt, ordered accelerated assistance to affected residents, the preparation of temporary shelters, and additional support for vulnerable individuals. The flooding has also impacted other regions in Thailand, with 21 provinces experiencing flooding, affecting 93 districts and over 84,000 people.

Authorities reported flooding at 109 highway locations across 19 provinces, with eight sections becoming impassable. Further heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Bangkok and several other parts of the country through Sunday.
