TVLine's Performer Of The Week: Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson's performance in Netflix's Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story was the star of the show in the latest episode, Bed and Breakfast. While Lizzie Borden herself was a side character in this season's Monster, Paulson's portrayal of Aileen Wuornos, a 1980s serial killer, stole the show. Paulson's transformation into Wuornos was remarkable, with her wild hair, wild eyes, and gnarled teeth making her nearly unrecognizable.

Even though Wuornos only had brief appearances in the show, she stole the show. The highlight was Episode 6, when Wuornos and her girlfriend Shelby visited Lizzie Borden's house. Wuornos' eyes lit up as she gushed over her hero Lizzie and then quickly turned on the houseowner for not allowing her to smoke inside. In a later scene, Wuornos had a vision of Lizzie and opened up to her, revealing the abuse she endured from her own family.

Paulson's portrayal of Wuornos was so compelling that she broke down in tears while recalling the many ways the justice system had failed her. Paulson's performance will linger with us even longer than Lizzie Borden's story.
