Team’s Up – Donovan misses out on Scotland team but Welsh starts

Sébastien Pocognoli has unveiled his Scotland team for their first game under his management. The Belgian coach will lead Scotland in their Nations League opener against Slovenia, which will take place in Ljubljana. This match is part of a series of four games during an extended international break, with Scotland also facing Switzerland at home, North Macedonia away, and Slovenia at home.

Angus Gunn will be the first-choice goalkeeper for the Scottish side. The team's defensive lineup will feature a back three, with Stephen Welsh making his debut in the team. Welsh, who has impressed since leaving Celtic for Motherwell and Swansea, joins Jack Hendry and Scott McKenna in the backline.

In midfield, the team will have an intriguing five-man setup, with Andy Robertson and Aaron Hickey utilized as wingbacks. Billy Gilmour, John McGinn, and Lewis Ferguson will make up the nucleus of the midfield, working together to control the game.

Up front, Scotland will rely on Sevilla's Robbie Ure to lead the attack, supported by Oli McBurnie. The substitutes bench will include Kelly (GK), Bain (GK), Binks, Doig, Christie, Miller, McPake, Gannon-Doak, Graham, Bowie, Patterson, and Montgomery.
