Suthra Punjab Contractors Stop Sanitation Work in 21 Tehsils Over Unpaid Dues

Suthra Punjab contractors have halted their sanitation work in 21 tehsils of Punjab due to unpaid debts and disputes over bounced cheques. The Contractors Association's Provincial President, Nasrullah Tareen, revealed that the company issued Rs1.5 billion in cheques, but the contractors were unable to cash them. Tareen stated that the company has failed to pay Rs2.5 billion in the past six months, causing the contractors significant financial hardship.

The suspension of sanitation operations affects areas like Muzaffargarh and is expected to continue until the payment issue is resolved. Despite multiple negotiations, the contractors claim their outstanding dues remain unpaid. This latest boycott follows a previous suspension over unpaid bills for garbage-collection machinery and services.

The Contractors Association has demanded prompt payment of the outstanding dues, warning that further suspension could result in increased garbage accumulation in the affected regions.
