Shivambu vows Mayibuye Movement will end poor service delivery

Floyd Shivambu, the president of the Africa Mayibuye Movement, has vowed that the party's victory in upcoming local government elections will herald an end to poor service delivery in South Africa. Speaking at the launch of his party's manifesto in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni, Shivambu emphasized his commitment to ensuring that even people over 35 years old are given equal opportunities in employment. He also vowed to abolish the tender systems in municipalities if elected.

Shivambu criticized the current leaders, stating that South Africa cannot continue to be governed by mayors and councillors who lack knowledge of their responsibilities. He declared that a Mayibuye municipality would prioritize the maintenance and development of public infrastructure, including roads and schools, as well as oversee the national offices of departments such as home affairs.

The party's mayoral candidate for Ekurhuleni, Themba "Skeem GP" Nzimande, dismissed claims that he is merely a celebrity candidate with limited political understanding or local government experience. Nzimande, a former convict who served time for his involvement in a cash-in-transit heist, expressed his readiness to lead and highlighted his commitment to addressing service delivery challenges in the metro.
