Russia’s air defenses can’t protect all its strategic sites once Ukraine’s ballistic missiles are ready, expert says

Russia's air defenses are unable to safeguard all strategic sites as Ukraine's ballistic missile arsenal grows, according to expert Vadym Kushnikov. The capital, Moscow, remains primarily protected by the S-500 Prometey system, which houses adapted S-400 interceptors. However, other areas are left more vulnerable to Ukraine's increasing ballistic missile strikes.

Ukraine's production of domestically developed ballistic missiles, such as the Sapsan, poses a growing threat to Russia, as it can strike deep within the country without needing approval from Western powers. While Ukraine has made significant strides in developing its missile capabilities, producing these missiles presents numerous challenges, including sourcing solid-fuel rocket engines and guidance systems.
