Remita Expands into Retail Market with Integrated Mobile App

Financial technology company Remita introduced a revamped mobile application at Nigeria Fintech Week 2026 (NFW26) in Lagos, marking its entry into the consumer and retail sector. The integrated app consolidates multi-bank management, everyday payments, and retail financial services into one platform. Users can now link multiple bank accounts, conduct local and intra-African transfers, schedule recurring payments, invest in stocks, access a retail lending marketplace, buy flight and event tickets, and handle micro-pensions and utility bills all in one place.

Managing Director DeRemi Atanda stated that the company, which has been focused on institutional payments for over two decades, is now innovating the ecosystem to serve the customer's entire financial life. He explained that the platform aims to transform lifestyle, increase access to financial services, and simplify financial management.

Head of Consumer and Retail Business Adedayo Adewale added that the product resolves the operational fragmentation that Nigerian banking customers face, as they currently use multiple applications for various financial needs.

The new app also features budgeting and expense-tracking tools powered by artificial intelligence. Through a partnership with the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), users can make cross-border payments across Africa directly from their local bank accounts. Remita processes over N100 trillion in transactions annually, primarily from corporate and institutional clients.

With this new consumer-focused approach, the company anticipates significant adoption in the coming months. Atanda highlighted that the next decade of fintech development will rely on integrated digital infrastructure and cross-border alignment, emphasizing that systems supporting daily life and transactions will become increasingly invisible.
