Rangers place 3B Josh Jung on the 10-day IL with a broken right hand

The Texas Rangers announced on Saturday that third baseman Josh Jung will be placed on the 10-day injured list due to a broken right hand. The injury occurred when Twins starter Joe Ryan's pitch struck Jung in the hand during the first inning of Friday’s game at Target Field. Despite initially staying in the game and scoring, Jung was later replaced by a pinch hitter.

In 104 games this season, Jung had a .299 batting average, 12 home runs, 42 RBIs, and a .827 OPS. He had previously missed all of August due to a left calf strain, returning to bat .341 in 12 games. To fill Jung's spot on the roster, the Rangers recalled left-hander Robby Ahlstrom and catcher Logan O’Hoppe from Triple-A Round Rock. They also optioned right-hander Gavin Collyer to the Arizona Complex League Rangers.
