Power on... the streaming service spending scam — and why it's time we said 'enough is enough'

Streaming services are raising their prices again for the fall season. Four major streamers have increased their costs, with three of them doing so in the US. Apple TV raised its monthly and annual fees by $2 and $20 respectively in late August. Disney+ and Hulu also raised their prices in September 2026, with new and returning users now paying an extra $0.50 to $3 per month.

Netflix raised its US subscription prices in March, but more increases could be coming. Rival streaming platforms like Prime Video and HBO Max have also raised their prices in recent years. Users on social media are expressing frustration and canceling their subscriptions, but this is only a small drop in the ocean for these companies, which have billions of subscribers worldwide.

However, Netflix's stock recently took a beating due to a change in viewing habits and a loss of popular shows, which may eventually lead to a collective decision among users to end their subscriptions and demand change.
