Pengampunan bersyarat Najib: Anwar tegas pertahan prinsip banteras rasuah

(Image: Bernama) In Bangi, Anwar reiterated that the government's actions align with the spirit of the Constitution and the decision by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, which ties Najib Razak's case to his actions.

Anwar stated, however, that this does not prevent him from offering legal advice based on laws and national interests. When discussing the Najib controversy, Anwar said he supports the spirit of the Constitution, but it does not hinder providing legal advice and guidance based on laws and regulations. "What do we convey? This country cannot respond to corruption and the practice of 'sucking' national wealth," he said during the Appreciation Dinner for the 3 Generations Legacy, adding that institutions such as the Haj Committee, Felda, and 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) have been the subject of public attention, and those accused of misusing national wealth must be fully accountable.

Tabung Haji, Felda, 1MDB, and those who 'suck' national wealth must answer. So whatever the outcome, it should not be about saving the country, Anwar said. At 73 years old, Najib is currently serving his prison sentence at the Kajang Prison since August 23, 2022, after being found guilty in the RM42 million bribery case involving SRC International Sdn Bhd.

On September 18, Sultan Ibrahim approved a conditional pardon for Najib to serve the remainder of his prison sentence for the SRC International case under house arrest until August 23, 2028, subject to a RM50 million fine and adherence to specified conditions. Earlier, the same meeting also featured the Prime Minister's wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and Deputy Prime Minister (Legal Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan.

The meeting gathered over 2,000 members of the Muslim Youth Organization (ABIM), the Malaysia Cultural Foundation Association (WADAH), and the National Islamic Youth Association (PKPIM).
