OKC Comets beat Las Vegas Aviators to win Pacific Coast League championship

The Oklahoma City Comets secured the 2026 Pacific Coast League Championship with a 5-2 victory in Game 3 against the Las Vegas Aviators. The Comets' Ryan Fitzgerald contributed a crucial RBI double in the second inning, setting the tone for their success. With two more runs added in the third inning courtesy of a single from Mike Sirota and an Alek Thomas sacrifice fly, the Comets established a commanding three-run lead.

The Aviators attempted to mount a comeback in the sixth inning, loading the bases with two outs and forcing a groundout, but Oklahoma City maintained their advantage. Despite Brayan Buelvas' two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth, Oklahoma City's pitchers Seth Halvorsen and Paul Gervase shut down the Aviators, forcing out six batters to secure the win.

This marked Oklahoma City's sixth Triple-A title and second in four years, with the championship being their second since joining the Bricktown era in 1998. The victory solidifies Oklahoma City's standing as a dominant force in the league, as they now boast a 3-2 record in winner-take-all playoff games, including a 2-1 triumph on the road.

The Comets' performance in the series was notably strong, with Zach Ehrhard shining with a 2-for-5 performance and 11 extra-base hits. The win also sets the stage for Oklahoma City's next challenge as they prepare to face the International League champion Rochester Red Wings in the Triple-A National Championship Game.
