OKC Comets beat Las Vegas Aviators to win Pacific Coast League championship

The Oklahoma City Comets claimed the 2026 Pacific Coast League Championship by defeating the Las Vegas Aviators in a decisive Game 3 at Las Vegas Ballpark. The Comets took an early lead with a run scored on a RBI double by Ryan Fitzgerald in the second inning. They added two more runs in the third inning through a single by Mike Sirota and a sacrifice fly by Alek Thomas.

Las Vegas loaded the bases in the sixth inning with two outs, but Kyle Hurt forced a crucial groundout to preserve the Comets' three-run lead. The Comets extended their lead in the eighth inning with two doubles from Zach Ehrhard and Josue De Paula. Despite Brayan Buelvas' two-run homer for the Aviators in the eighth inning, Oklahoma City's pitchers Seth Halvorsen and Paul Gervase shut down the next six Aviators batters to secure the victory.

This marks Oklahoma City's sixth Triple-A title, with the Comets now having won the championship twice in the past four years. The team is now 3-2 in winner-take-all playoff games, with their first such win since Game 5 of the 2016 American Conference First Round. The Comets will face the International League champion Rochester Red Wings in the Triple-A National Championship Game, scheduled for 9:05 p.m. CT on Saturday at Las Vegas Ballpark.
